(and I don’t just shoot cars!)
Background
I’ve worked as a photographer since 1994 and began my career working for one of Birmingham’s best advertising photographers, on large format view cameras in the studio.
In 1999 I graduated from the University of Central England with a BA (Hons) in Visual Communications (Photography). There, I experimented with my studio lighting and location knowledge, and developed the location lighting techniques I’m now well known for. I’ve specialized in automotive photography and lifestyle since going freelance in 1999.
With my automotive photography, I'm known for my niche of Porsche 911s, Land Rovers, and the commercial vehicle market.
For lifestyle photography, I’m known for my outdoor leisure, tourism and camping lifestyle photography.
Many of my clients are relationships going back over a decade - or two - seeking elegant car photography for exclusive reveals, definitive features, workshop how-to’s or eye catching car photography for covers.
I’m very proud to say I’m a twice winner of the Audi/Guild of Motoring Writers Photographer of the Year (2010, 2012), been voted into top three placings in the Headlineauto awards for three years running (2010, 2011, 2012), and was awarded Alumni of the Year by Birmingham City University in 2016.
I have been commissioned by much of the UK motoring media, from classics to performance car titles. Total911, Land Rover Monthly, CAR, Mini Magazine, 911& Porsche World, Octane, Autocar, Trucking, Commercial Motor, Practical Classics, Fast Ford, Classic Ford and many more in the UK; overseas my work has been in Auto Retro, Retroviseur (France) and 4×4 Magazine (Japan).
Advertising and Marketing photography clients include Jaguar Land Rover, Hyundai, Iveco, Andover Trailers, Carrier Transicold, Michelin tyres, ATS Euromaster, Renault Trucks, Schmitz Cargobull, JE Engineering, Kingsley Cars, The Camping and Caravanning Club, Autofarm, The AA, Haynes, Terrafirma, and agency work through TinkerTailor, Garnett Keeler PR and Elan PR.
I’ve shot over 500+ magazine covers, written hundreds of features - from travel, feature cars, cover features, plus over a decade’s worth of monthly workshop features for Land Rover Monthly.
When not working, I am often found playing the drums in a swing band or, touring petrol stations in either the 1995 Range Rover Classic or 1957 Series One I've restored.
